SPOTLIGHT.

I try to keep it honest and real with you at all times. So, it’s impossible to be happy 24/7. Lately, we have been going 10000MPH. A R T Interview, New shirts, Sweaters, New Videos, Trending topic on Twitter. We had a lot of attention coming our way. With good comes the bad. Because we were moving so fast and had a lot of eyes on us there was a lot of negative energy coming our way. From the death threats, to the hate messages, to the people who join together to bash on something just for the sake of being different. Yes, it comes with the territory, and yes, they don’t matter. But everyone is human and have feelings as well. Things that shouldn’t matter begin to matter, and things that shouldn’t hurt begin to hurt. I know there are 100000 more people supporting and loving, but I am the kind of person who gets upset, not because they do not like me or what I do, but because my intentions are misunderstood. I have always had the trait to care about pleasing everyone even though I was told time and time again it is impossible. But, I just want to thank you all for being there for me whenever times get hard. Going to sleep and waking up the last couple of days have sucked badly. So much poison and negativity in my mind and heart. I felt sick, like I was diseased. I was shaking at one point reading all of the things. I wanted to give it all up and just go back to being Yousef. But seeing all of you when I think about how far we’ve come make me realize why I do this, love this and won’t ever stop. So thank you. Honestly. Without you, I don’t know what I would do to myself.
Also, I understand what people want me to talk about. People have been criticizing every action I make because it is not to their liking. They find out about me and within 5 minutes judge and say I do nothing to enlighten people about what is going on in our home countries. If they did research they would see the videos I have made regarding the topics. They would see I travel to host fundraisers for Palestine and have given speeches on it. They would see I spent countless hours on ustream bringing the subject up. They would see who in my family does stuff for the cause. But they don’t because it is not in front of their eyes. The ironic part about it is this, I do not have to say or do anything, especially since they feel like I must, I do it on my own. I know what I am doing. I have gotten to this point because I have looked at my steps and know what direction I need to go in to get to a platform where I can talk about what is important. It was sad seeing people complain about me making a video about bullying and not about those starving around the world. They know nothing yet speak with a foolish tongue. If I listened to the voices of the people who try to pull my strings like I was Pinnochio, my career would have ended a long time ago. I think I know what I am doing, and If I don’t, let it be my mistake to learn from. Hope that all came out the wrong way and made sense. Please read both of these passages over and over and over again before commenting something that totally contradicts what I am saying here. Thank you. And for the record, FREE Palestine, and every other Muslim country in the world and every country facing suffrage, starvation, discrimination. Free the minds of the closed. Free the hearts of the diseased.
