DEAR U.S.A;

Dear USA. My name is Yousef Saleh Erakat. My family was evacuated out of Palestine over 40 Years ago and moved to this country. Being in this country was an opportunity for what it promoted; “Life, Liberty and Justice for all.” A slate and promise of equality and peace. Since then, they have worked 9-5 jobs endlessly, to support and raise their children. Taxes were payed, and the cost of living here (groceries, clothes, tuition, necessities of life) boosted money right back into the economy. My parents English might not be the very best, but it is definitely well enough to comprehend. They raised us all to be Muslim. For the ones who don’t know, Islam is a religion, not a race, ethnicity or culture. The religion has helped us stay humble, thankful, peaceful and always wary of our actions knowing not to upset our creator. We are your neighbors, co workers, class mates, and best of all brothers and sisters of Humanity. Take away my name, origin, religion and I am just like you. A human. So please explain to me one more time, Why do you remind us to “Go back to our Country?” Sincerely, a US. Citizen.
